Why do the firemen burn books in Fahrenheit 451?
Technically, the individual “Firemen” themselves do it because they they think it is for the good of the people, they are told by their superiors that books and reading make people unhappy, so books must be destroyed in order to keep the peace. Ironically it’s because they have been trained not to think for themselves that allows them to to their job.
