Why do the Echo liquid handlers require flat-bottomed plates?
To accurately and precisely eject a droplet from a well, the acoustic energy must be focused on the meniscus of the fluid. Containers that are not flat-bottomed act as lenses that change the acoustic focus. This dramatically decreases precision and accuracy and can lead to failed ejections. Back to main list.
