Why do the criteria in the highest mark range (26 – 28) refer to “a given task”?

At the highest mark level, candidates are expected to design and construct a database for a specific task/reason and not merely collect data and use it to make a database which can then be interrogated. Candidates must analyse the task and list the expected outcomes. At this level, the database is constructed for a stated reason or reasons (the task) and the output be considered at the outset. The specific task refers to the purpose of the database e.g. to quote a very simple task that should not be taken as anything other than an illustration of this point: to find out and display in a chart/graph how many red cars are owned by 18 to 25 year old people. All the aspects of the database should refer to the specific task.
