With the Metric System used in all Europe, it quickly spread around the world. Britain refused for a long time to adopt the superior but “French” system. Some years ago the Metric System was adopted in Britain, even if Imperial units are still widely used throughout the country. The USA are one of the only 3 countries in the world (with Liberia and Burma) who didn’t adopt the Metric System, though it’s used by the vast majority of sicentists.
