Why do the Affiliates object to NACMs new policies?
For over 100 years the Affiliates have been the “building blocks” of the national organization. Every single member of NACM in the U.S. is first and foremost a member of an Affiliate. National essentially has no members of its own. The Affiliates directly contribute around 20% of Nationals budget through the dues we pay to National on a per-member basis. Nevertheless, NACM has embarked upon policies that directly threaten the continued financial and operating health of its Affiliates. And when the overwhelming majority of boards of directors of the local Affiliates, representing the vast majority of all NACM members, approached National with amendments to clarify the nature and change the direction of the national association to address those particular concerns, the national board of directors declared those amendments “out of order” and absolutely refused to consider any of the changes urged by the local boards.
