Teens choose to have sex for a variety of reasons. However, most reasons why teens have sex are not good reasons. Some reasons why teens have sex are: • They think it will help them to fit in with the crowd or become popular. • They think, “Everyone’s doing it.” • They want to be accepted by their peers. • They don’t want to lose their boyfriend or girlfriend. • They think having sex will make the other person love them or will secure their relationship. • They believe it will make them a man or a woman. • They want to feel mature. However, a mature teen is one that decides not to have sex and knows that these reasons are not good reasons.
