Why do students of nursing study pharmacology?
Nurses are often required to administer drugs to people, consequently they need to have a sound pharmacological knowledge so that they give the right drug for the condition, in the right dose, to the right person. Additionally they need to know if a drug they are administering will interact with a drug or drugs the person is already taking and they need to know what types of side effects the drugs are likely to produce so that they can reassure the person and/or deal with the side effects.
