The standard sizes are 1-1/8 inch and 3⁄4-inch studs. The larger studs were created to give the same outer wheel nut as used on the drive hub. The 3⁄4″ stud uses a different nut than the drive hubs but the same installation socket. The reason the smaller studs are used is to save weight.
