Why do strawberries have seeds outside on them?
The seeds are born on what ar called achenes (Pronounced: ah-keens). This is known as a false or accessory fruit is this is not from an ovary. The true fruits are the seeds themselves. The strawberry is an enlarged receptacle. As one answerer said, plants have evolved ways to disperse their seeds. For strawberries, the strawberries basically rot or dry up and fall on the soil and next season they grow.
