Why do some Vendors offer flat rate pricing and others offer per hour pricing?

Flat rate pricing is generally used to grab attention based on a low price solution for a computer problem. As in most everything else, you get what you pay for. Low price options do not generally translate into high levels of service. You may have to disconnect your computer to bring it in for service one thing if its a laptop, but something a little more inconvenient if its a desktop. Also, flat rate pricing could limit the effort that is made to recover your computer / data from damage. If you have a severely infected system, people offering flat rate pricing are encouraged to just reformat your hard drive and reinstall the operating system in order to get you back in operation. You could lose data, and need to reinstall all of your old applications. RJM Technology considers that step the absolute last recourse not one of the first. That is differentiating service.
