WHY DO SOME TEETH WHITENING SYSTEMS USE BLEACHING LIGHTS OR LASERS?
Studies have shown that bleaching lights and lasers do nothing to enhance teeth whitening. So WHY do you hear about them on television and in magazines? The answer is that the companies that MAKE these bleaching lights and lasers want everyone, dentists and patients alike, to THINK that these lights and lasers actually enhance whitening. But they do NOT. In fact, let’s talk about what lights and lasers are SUPPOSED to do. They are supposed to cause oxygen to be given off by the bleaching gel faster and more thoroughly. They’re supposed to speed up the chemical reaction that results in the liberation of oxygen from the gel. Sounds good, doesn’t it? The problem is that it doesn’t work. Some of the most respected researchers in dentistry, including CRA (Clinical Research Associates), have performed split-arch, proving that bleaching lights are of no benefit.
