Why do some sites jump to the top of search-engine results?
There are several things that can affect search engine results. The first is outright bribery. Some site owners pay to leap to the top of any search containing certain key words. Short of buying your way to a number one listing, there are things you or your designer can do, however, to improve your chances of appearing near the top of a search for pages like yours. By salting both the pages and META statements with appropriate keywords, your designer can assure that search engines will list your page early in the search results whenever someone searches for a keyword that would indicate an interest in the subject matter of your site. You can aid this process by listing every word someone might use to search for a site like yours. Even with those words in hand, your designer must know a good deal about search-engine behavior.
