Why do some “Simpsons” voices sound different?Answer: When Dan Castellaneta originally began voicing Homer, he imitated Walter Matthau. However, Dan reportedly had trouble with certain emotional registers and intonations with the voice. In the second season, he changed it slightly to create its present sound. Christopher Collins played Moe Szyslak in “Some Enchanted Evening” and Mr. Burns in “Homer’s Odyssey.” He left “The Simpsons” to pursue a stand-up career. Sadly, he passed away in 1994.
