Why do some religious groups condemn the Harry Potter books as evil?
Emilie,some Christian denominations are ulta-strict and see everything as either sinful or evil,I think they go to far with this myself but that is their way, of course dabbling in the occult is always wrong but as for Harry Potter I don`t feel that it is evil, it seems to be more of the usual theme of Good versus Evil,and there have been many books written on the subject,i.e Lion,Witch and the Wardrobe to name but one.
This is because there are certain facts in Harry Potter books going against the beliefs of certain religious groups. For example, the existence of spirits as described in the book. You should keep in mind that blind belief is the key to follow a religion and people reading the book are compelled to question the validity of their religion, This is why these groups try to condemn it, without realising that they are going against what they themselves teach: that every man has the right to do what he wants because he is equal to everybody in society.
