Why do some ponies not wear horse shoes?
Most horses and ponies that are being ridden on hard roads need horse shoes to protect their feet. If they didn’t, the soles of their feet might get sore and the pony go lame. Some native ponies however, have very hard hooves and can be ridden without, but even these should not be ridden a lot on hard roads. As a rule, black hooves are considered stronger than white hooves but there are exceptions.
