Why do some people think that DanceSafes work is “controversial”?
The media has, in the past, claimed that DanceSafe’s work is controversial, and other groups and government officials have gone as far as claiming that DanceSafe is PRO-DRUG and is doing more harm than good [reference]. In June 2000, a spokesman for our Illinois state representative Judy Biggert said a legal analysis by the Congressional Research Service concluded that DanceSafe would only be “tangentially targeted under [the Ecstasy Anti-Proliferation Act of 2000] because what they are doing probably already constitutes a felony offense” [reference]. The main point of contention revolves around the issue of adulterant screening of ecstasy, or pill-testing.
