Why do some people think rap music is bad?
Even though I love rap music and I am very much grown up (35 years old!), I can tell you why hip hop is seen as ‘bad’ by many people: -A lot of rap songs contain lyrics about shooting or spraying people. -Many rap songs have lyrics that encourage smoking weed. -A whole lot of rap songs have lyrics about sex. -Lots of rap videos contain scenes with references to all of the things listed above. -It is believed that children can’t think for themselves – so if a child hears something in a song, or sees something on TV, they might do or say the same things! The last item on the list is very important for YOU to remember. No matter how much you like any song, video, movie, or celebrity, you have to think for yourself and make your own decisions. Rap artists are not role models for you, and they cannot ‘make you’ do stupid things.
