Why do some people that smoke never devolp lung cancer and other problems?
I wouldn’t normally be so negative or cautious, but please, please be careful. Lung cancer doesn’t always start with smoker’s cough. I say so because a lot of people in my family were/are long-time smokers and cancer wasn’t in our set either. That is until last October. My mom was just diagnosed with small cell lung cancer, extensive (SCLC-ext). I don’t know why, of so many in our family, that she’s the only one facing this. It’s so small that doctors don’t usually detect it before it has already metastasized to another location. For my mom, it was the brain. Please…don’t fall into the immunity trap like my family did. Stick with regular checkups and listen to your body for something unusual. And even if it’s not lung related, pay attention. For my mom, it was intense headaches, changes in writing, loss of balance…but we still had to fight the doctor to get him to investigate (who just thought it was a slight case of pneumonia).
