Why do some people say your mail will be read aloud to everyone at basic training and some people say it wont?
One reason is that you have people giving answers from different time periods – I’m sure being able to hit recruits is not the only thing that has changed over the last 20 or so years. Second – you have people who have read the regulations and rules on this matter but just because something is against the rules doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. It is against the law for someone to open your mail but once it is opened then all bets are off, especially if it’s more than just a letter (included pictures, etc.) or if it’s left out once it has been opened. The fact of the matter is that no one can guarantee that your letter isn’t going to get read.
