My parents were hippies and I am not socially irrisponsible. Neither are my children. In fact when I compare my kids with those of other people I know, I’m inclined to think that the hippies had it right. We don’t live in Britain, we live in Mexico and none of us are running amok. Personally I think my father knew exactly what he was doing and I applaud both his effort and his techique. This is the trouble with generalizations. You judge a group based on the actions of a few. But for every hippie child running amok there are three more leading respectable lives and you will never know about them. My brother and I both have respectable jobs, making over 100K a year. I own a hotel in Mexico and personally provide jobs for four families. My children go to private schools, are bilingual, bicultural, and respectful of others. So tell me how the hippie mentality has failed in this situation. In fact most of the ‘hippies’ I meet today never had hippie parents. They don’t even understand what
