Why do some people have special titles that don have a level number?
These are custom titles. The rule used to be that after 500 posts you were eligible for a custom title, but since then the number of topics has grown so quickly that this post count is quickly being reached by newbies. Instead of upping the post count, which would be unfair to people who for whatever reason are unable to post regularly, or who’ve been around just as long and say more in fewer posts, we decided that awarding custom titles on the basis of merit – contributing usefully to the board with intelligent discussion and suggestion, treating other board users with respect, and dedication to the board over a period of time – would be fairer and more appropriate. This also mitigates the problem of newbies repeatedly posting nonsense to boost their post count. Custom titles can be anything you like (as long as it’s not offensive or insulting to any other board members, and that it or something similar to it is not already taken by another member). We won’t necessarily tell you when
