Why do some people hate polytheism so much?

I think it has just about everything to do with social conditioning. Many people are brought up in societies where monotheistic religions, (Christianity in particular), are seen as normal and accepted. Whereas polytheism is seen as weird and/or somewhat eccentric. So of course it rubs off in most cases! Just like other norms do too… Still, I personally don’t see polytheism as any more peculiar than monotheism. Both are equally irrational, no matter how much our culture tries to tell us otherwise. It’s strange, no..? How the belief in Shiva, Vishnu and Brahman is ridiculed. Whereas believing in the trinity, which is supposedly both three and one at ONCE does not even get people to raise an eyebrow! “Holy cows” is regarded as pure insanity. But if you tell others that you really believe a talking snake tempted Eve to eat a freaking apple and get thrown out of Eden, or that wine and bread can LITERALLY transfigure into the body of Christ, that is supposed to be perfectly okay… When mo
