Why do some people consider a second baby shower tacky?

Most people expect you to hold on to the things from your first pregnancy. Also, I think people look at a shower as preparing someone who’s never been a mom for what’s in store. I recently read somewhere though that the etiquette rules have changed and said that if your next baby is a different gender or the children are more than 5 years apart, then it’s totally acceptable. Bottom line, though, just do whatever feels like the right thing to do. Those who think it’s tacky don’t have to go, and those who don’t care will be there. Doesn’t mean anybody loves your baby any less, just old ettiquette rules.
