They get a taste for the alcohol and like it more and more, sometimes it starts off with something seemingly harmless ie: business lunches always having a few tipples, they then get to want more and more, then feel a need for it to get through the daily grind of things. This then becomes a downward spiral on getting hooked by thinking of the next ‘fix’ a vodka, or whatever.. It is easily done, the time to call it a day is when it starts to become important in your thinking about wanting another drink, fortunately some people can break the spell before it gets a real hold, in stopping at this point, but unfortunately some kid themselves that it is just one more, and this one more leads to destruction and addiction. You can ask yourself the same of any addiction such as smoking, or even compulsive disorders such as having to repeatedly wash hands and such things, it all comes down to willpower, and stopping before it gets out of hand.
