Why do some news articles and blog posts have fewer related blog posts than others?

Currently, the only related social media that we show are blog posts. However, we mine a number of different types of social media to track the attention towards stories. For example, a news story may be getting a lot of discussion in a Usenet group before it hits the blogosphere. Political Streams will surface that story before the blogosphere picks it up.
