Why do some microscopes use lens turrets and others use separate eyepieces?

0

Most entry-level or beginner microscopes use a lens turret design to house the eyepieces. This design incorporates 3-4 different eyepieces on a single rotating mount, providing a fast and simple way for the user to change magnification powers. More advanced microscopes employ individual, separate and interchangeable eyepieces to determine the magnification power. In these designs, the eyepieces (specified in ‘mm’ or millimeters) are inserted into the top of the microscope tube, and typically deliver better overall image quality for the more advanced user.
