Why do some jedi use dark side powers?
Some powers, such as Force Grip, are not in fact “Dark side powers” as they can be used for a variety of things; Dark siders merely use them to harm others and for their own selfish purposes. Other powers, such as Force Lightning, can depend on the Jedi’s own opinion of Light and Dark; some believe that, as an extension of the above example, it is not the power that is dark, but how one uses it–which is the justification of some Jedi such as Kyle Katarn who utilize Force Lightning. Other Jedi, however, realize that such powers are fueled only by negative emotions like fear and hatred, which cause them to not use the power.
