Why do some horses produce white frothy saliva when being ridden??
The horse is relaxed and chewing on the bit- they are thinking about their ride and are happy- I am not talking ones that open their mouth and chew furiously- these horses are relaxed. Depending on the discipline, you might want that froth- most showing, it is wiped off, but it looks good for dressage shows- shows the horse is on the bit and accepting it. Why would sugar cubes produce more froth? I have never had any problem getting a horse to salivate- I actually wipe it off before competitions or my horses get soaked with their own spit- I know it is good to be around the outside of the mouth, but I hate when it gets to the point where it drips down when they are in a canter.
