For thousand years every cultivated person considered the knowledge of Greek (and latin) as a direct necessity. English people not only were no exception, but they were fully engaged in incorporating the endless riches of the Greek language into ancient English. All words which correspond to abstract ideas have direct Greek origin (i.e. “music” from “musike”. Usually every Greek word can be transformed into English with no problem (i.e. “analysis” from “analysis” etc.) Even as we speak most scientists naming new meanings, they first open the Lexicon of the Greek language in order to find the proper word for a true meaning.
