Why do some christians say that TATTOOING and PIERCINGS are “defiling” the body?
I do not know any Christian opposed to piercings (they would only oppose Bible principles if they marred the body or somehow were idolatrous). Both men and women of Israel were noted to have piercings, which are not condemned in the Bible. However, tattoos are forbidden. Leviticus 19.28 “‘You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the Lord.” Now there is an eternal principle behind every command of Scripture that is not arbitrary and that is ultimately for the good of man. In the present that eternal principle may or may not be violated by having tattoos. Actually, Jesus said that He did not come to set aside the Law, but to establish the Law. The Apostle Paul said that one who submits to any part of the Law thinking it will gain salvation is actually to be under the entire Law. The Law is good, the principles are eternal, the Law was never designed to save anyone, nor can it. I wonder about the critical thinking of Rod B who ste
