Why do socks get fuzzy after washed?

0

Well, they get fuzzy after you put them in the dryer. That’s because of two things: 1. Heat 2. Static Electricity The outside layer of the socks will expand, while the inside layers of the socks will shrink when they come into contact with heat and static. The expanded outside layers will then gather together in little fuzzy balls. These fuzzy balls will either cling to the sock due to static electricity, or they’ll become entangled with the threads in the sock that have not expanded. Also, your socks might feel “fuzzier” because of remaining static. The static will cause the fibers in the socks to stick out when they come into contact with certain surfaces (like your skin). The fibers clinging to your skin from the static electricity will make it seen like your socks are more fuzzy!
