Why do social welfare programs continue to fail?
We don’t have social welfare programs that are designed to lift people out of poverty. Ultimately, we rely on a capitalistic system to do that, and since a capitalistic system needs poor people as a source of fluid labor, there will always be poor people with us. Our social welfare programs are just designed to keep people aflot and prevent them from starving to death out on the streets. And while 10 trillion sounds like alot, it’s not that much if you consider that the war on poverty started in the early sixties and our military budget is 1 trillion dollars a year when you include all the hidden expenses and wars in Iraq and Iran.
When these programs were begun it was for a short term help out during a bad time and to get the money flowing again. Enter the liberals and democrats who have hi-jacked the entitlement program sector to buy votes and now we’ve had generations on welfare who think that a pay check is what they pickup at the welfare office. Excuse me, the debit card they pickup at the welfare office. For all of the young people who are just starting out on a career you’ll understand when you start recieving your paychecks and you see the amount deducted for taxes. I paid over 21,000.00 in fed income tax alone this year. What could you have done with 21,000.00 cash?
