Why do so many people dislike Hillary Clinton?
People who dislike Senator Clinton say a number of things when asked what they don’t admire about her — split to a degree between mentions that deal mostly with her personal characteristics, and those that deal with her positions on the issues. Polls indicate that experience is Hillary Rodham Clinton’s leading virtue, and I believe that she is a trooper, she knows what she wants, she knows her opinions and she is not afraid to voice them. If a brilliant, educated, opinionated woman makes people nervous, then I know why she is so disliked.
First of all, it may be that Hillary Clinton’s popularity among the general US populace is much higher than her media coverage would indicate. As the apparent Democratic favorite in the upcoming 2008 Presidential election, Fox Noise and other right-wing-oriented media outlets in the US have started their negative campaigning against her. On a deeper level, I believe Hillary Clinton has overused the political strategy of triangulation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangulation_%28politics%29 Therefore, it is difficult to pin down what her political principles and philosophies are from her public statements. This makes it easy for people to project upon Hillary their worst fears about what she MAY do. Frequently, she is portrayed as radically left-wing when in fact her voting record is relatively centrist. Since most Americans only know what they see on television, her actual record gets left out of the discussion. Full disclosure: I am relatively left-wing politically and am NOT a fan
