Why do so many Christians celebrate Pagan festivals such as Christmas and Easter?
*Because we have been lied to and blinded by the churches that observe these pagan holidays. Yes they are pagan in origin and have nothing to do with God’s true church. **Easter was mistranslated in the king james version holy bible. The word written in the original language (greek) was pascha which means.. 1) the paschal sacrifice (which was accustomed to be offered for the people’s deliverance of old from Egypt) 2) the paschal lamb, i.e. the lamb the Israelites were accustomed to slay and eat on the fourteenth day of the month of Nisan (the first month of their year) in memory of the day on which their fathers, preparing to depart from Egypt, were bidden by God to slay and eat a lamb, and to sprinkle their door posts with its blood, that the destroying angel, seeing the blood, might pass over their dwellings; Christ crucified is likened to the slain paschal lamb 3) the paschal supper 4) the paschal feast, the feast of the Passover, extending from the 14th to the 20th day of the month
I totally agree – nowhere in the Bible does it tell you to celebrate these things and the world has used them for its own desires – I personally do not have anything to do with these festivals other than using the time to tell people the truth about how Jesus claims to be the Son of God who came to spread the word to His fallen world and those who believe in Him as the son who was raised will have eternal life and be children of the living God. So God can use all things to the good for those who love Him, so we should take every opportunity to preach the word of truth and these things tho evil can give us open doors to proclaim the truth.
I am Christian and I don’t celebrate the pagan holidays. The pagan holidays were originally brought in by the Catholics. They need to do research but they don’t. The Bible tells us not to celebrate traditions of man. Celebrations were given in the Old Testament for the Jews, they were the only ones authorized by God to celebrate. It is just Satan with his tricks once again. I asked a similar question…http://answers.yahoo.
