Why do so many car rental companies refuse to rent to licensed drivers under the age of 25?
The reason for this is because those that are under 25 are also at the highest risk of getting into accidents. They tend to be more impulsive and less responsible than those that are more mature. They also generally lack the driving experience of those that are over 25. Because of these factors, this age group tends to have more vehicular accidents. Then of course, there is the problem of our overly litigious society. If one of these kids does something stupid and gets himself permanently disabled or killed, they or their families could come back and sue the individual rental outlet and/or the parent company and any of the companies suppliers for loads of money. While the plaintiff’s case may be weak, it still costs a lot of money to fight off such suits. So, rather than taking the risk, care rental companies just refuse to do business with those that are in under 25.
