Why do so-called standalone systems often have computer connections on the back?
These connections could have a number of purposes, depending on the model. For example, some units have the ability to import images directly from a computer, thereby saving the operator the step of having to create a master CD first before making copies. These units still do not need the computer to do the duplication. Others may use the connections for diagnostic purposes only, allowing a technician to hook them up to a computer and in order to do an analysis if there is a problem.
