For displaying characters of some languages like Malayalam and Bengali properly, your system needs to have Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed. For a system which is Windows XP (Pre-SP2) or Windows 2000 or if the system was purchased in the US, Malayalam and Bengali fonts are not bundled by default. Below are some links to sites that provide the necessary fonts. You need to install these fonts in your system for scraps in these languages to display properly.
