Why do Scottish people tend not to like the English?

Well according to the Scottish I know (even though I’m Scottish by heritage, along with English, Irish, French, German and Swiss) those who I have spoken to tell me they resent the English because the way the English have always treated them. In the past with the English trying to take their land, and even when they came to America getting treated horribly. I don’t know what that’s all about, but I suppose I haven’t learned enough about my own European heritage, despite the fact people seem to think it’s emphasized in America. Only one specific type of European heritage is emphasized here, in fact, and that IS English/British. I will tell you, however, it’s generally older Scottish folk (And Scottish American) that have the issue with the English. I do not, however.
