Why do school textbooks cost more than general books?
They usually cost more because the government is trying to get as much money out of people as possible. You have to go to school and by course books, so they think if so many books have to be bought, why not just charge the students for more? Another reason is because they contain important content and they take a lot of money to get made and put together. There is also a lot of research in writing a course book. Not only that, but the authors have to be paid as well, and they have to go through a lengthly process to write those books. The reason why regular books are less expensive is because they don’t have to be bought like school books do. You have the choice, and if they were to overcharge for books that are meant for pleasure reading, the books wouldn’t sell as much.
