A salt based system is designed to remove the minerals from the water and replace them with salt. That is why salt based water softeners make your skin feel slimy. That is NOT how the GMX system functions. The GMX system does not remove the minerals from the water. GMX changes the way the minerals in your water behave, it does NOT remove them. Therefore, when they attempt to measure the effectiveness of the GMX system using their “mineral content” test, it appears the GMX system is not working.
