Why do protestants hate Catholics?
Only the un-Christ-like resort to hatred of any kind. The real tragedy is when a Christian uses Jesus as an excuse to hate other Christians. God does not merely endorse the idea of love. He IS love. Those who hate are poor examples of temples for Holy Spirit, and it might even indicate the lack of Holy Spiritual activity in a given person. All Christians of every denomination MUST dispense of the hatred of all other Christians, regardless of denomination. Those who insist on alienating Christians of other denominations are making the EXACT SAME mistake the Pharisees of Jesus’s time made. Christians who hate, especially those who hate in the name of God, are like the Pharisees – “hypocrites all”.
Well, I’m protestant, and I don’t hate Catholics. My best friend is Catholic. It’s more of a disagreement of beliefs. For the most part, Catholics believe that Jesus’ sacrifice isn’t enough to save each person. “If any one shall say that justifying faith is nothing else than confidence in the divine mercy pardoning sins for Christ’s sake, or that it is that confidence alone by which we are justified … let him be accursed,” (Canon 12, Council of Trent). there’s a lot more, but that’s just an example.
