Why do pro athletes feel that they are above reproach?
They’re athletes…much like Hollywood actors, we don’t pay to listen to them talk during interviews…we pay because they provide, in most cases, a much needed diversion from our hectic lives. Neither athletes nor actors, nor singers, etc…have the intellect of the average US citizen due to their path of skipping school (or skipping through school). The minute people start paying attention to these people outside of their jobs and start putting them above their role of a simple diversion is when we start expecting more out of them “off the field”. Get used to it. Most of these people are not smart. Dumb people + intrusive media (driven by some strange insatious public obession) = “What’s wrong with these people” type questions.
