Why do printers bill art charges even though most art is submitted electronically?
There are many reasons why additional work may be required before your file can be printed. Traps need to be added where colors meet, to compensate for any misalignment during printing. The artwork also needs to be repeated in groups on the sheet. These modifications are usually fairly straightforward and simple. Although, occasionally much more work must be done to art files in order to organize the files for printing. This work is time consuming and costly.
