The creation process takes years, if not hundreds or thousands of years and occurs when certain conditions are met that would result in the creation of a certain mineral compound. These conditions can change over time during that time. Consider for a moment the different requirements that must be met for a gem to be created…it’s like a mineral cocktail that includes: the minerals that must be present for the creation process to occur, the trace elements that give the stones color, and the conditions that allow the process to take place. Any one of these factors can vary in quantity or magnitude… you could have more trace elements present, more heat, more water, more air, more of other elements present, etc… Knowing this… you can imagine that conditions that create a gem, may not exist or be exactly the same just 10 feet away.
