Why do police in the UK choose to shoot people with guns but the authorities wont execute murderers?
its against the murderers human rights. The police in the UK cannot ‘just shoot’ people, they are generally unarmed apart from the armed response teams. IF they were to be armed (like in Northern Ireland) they have rules of engagement to follow…for example if you as a police officer in NI arrive at the scene where a man has broken into a bar and shot 100 people in there but when the officer arrives actually close enough to do anything and the assailant drops his gun, he is no longer deemed a threat and therefore the officer cannot shoot him without opening a whole can of worms for himself and the force. as for the mainland Im pretty sure rules of engagement follow suit here, in fact rules of engagement are legal requirements for any armed force. the law is deemed to be sufficient reprimand for any criminal based on apportioning guilt and blame and relying totally on evidence. In a nutshell – you, me or the police do not have the authority to shoot murderers and to execute them would
The police have the same rights as the people. You can shoot any person if they are about to shoot you or another person or if they point a gun at you. The police are highly trained and only shoot a person under controlled conditions and that person has to be a danger to others., Before someone quotes the Menendez case, that was a one off rare case. In all cases the police are protecting us from danger. The whole matter is built on the state (police etc) working within the law – a murderer does not work within the law but has the protection of the current laws in regard to how he is dealt with.
Your assertion that the police “choose” to shoot people with guns is incorrect. Shooting people is a last resort for the police and creates huge amounts of paperwork, investigations and negative publicity. The death penalty for murderers is a completely separate argument and shouldn’t be linked to police responses to life-threatening situations.
