Why do plants perform transpiration?

0

Transpiration is located an the upper end of a long train of water molecules that enter the root hairs and are carried up the xylem tubes to the leave, stems and branches. In order to keep this chain of water coming into the plant (along with minerals) the water at the end of the chain forms water vapor and is lost to the atmosphere via stomata of leaves. The continual lost of water enable the plant to continue to pump new water and minerals through out the plant. New water moves in to take the place of water lost out through the stomata.
