Why do Perfect Pads contain Hemp?
Hemp is a fiber that has a finish similar to flax or linen and ramie. It is very quick-growing and has exceptionally long fibers. Cotton fibers are about 20 millimeters long, while the fibers of the hemp plant can reach several meters in length. As well as their much greater length, hemp fibers are stronger more absorbent, warmer and far more environmentally friendly than cotton since a crop of hemp requires no application of herbicides. The more hemp is used, the softer it gets. In case you didn’t know, Hemp fabric “wears-in”, instead of “wears-out” that is to say, the fabric gets more absorbent with each use (wash and dry). It has to do with the oils being washed away from the fabric and rendering it “thirsty”. Hemp is also naturally resistant to mold, ultraviolet light and odors.
