Why do people use aluminum foil when plastic wrap is more appropriate (and vice versa)?

My reasons for using one or the other is that Aluminum foil allows food to breath and plastic wrap tends to cut off air flow. Another reason is Aluminum foil is much easier to recycle by using it again and again. Just before I throw it away I use aluminum foil to cook on like a cookie sheet.

Well I use foil because it’s easier to get off of the roll than plastic wrap.
