Why do people think that having a cartoon crush is so weird?

I guess it’s the same way people think that it’s weird having a crush on Leonardo da Vinci’s painting “Mona Lisa”. It’s not that uncommon for people to have crushes on illustrations. It’s correct though that having a crush on a celebrity is roughly the same, especially if the celebrity was seen only in visual media (which might modified to achieve a certain ‘look’). Which begged the question, could there possibly exist a celebrity that don’t even exist but was promoted to exist as a real life person? ‘Big Brother’ from “1984” was potrayed to be ambigious on his existence, on whether he was a real person or a fictional promotional propaganda piece. The same goes to ‘Emmanuel Goldstein’, which exist as a villain to ‘Big Brother’s heroic status.
