Well it also depends on what university you go to. You can get through college working 40-50 hours a week at a less prestigious university (like a state university). At some of these universities, tuition and fees w/o housing average out to about 3,300 a semester. You can live off campus with some roomates in the case of housing. Now you may not have the best housing conditions but as long as there is electricity and running water… Let’s say you have a job making 7.50 an hour. Considering that you work 40 hours a week your monthly income should be about $1280 (w/o taxes). With taxes it will be about $1088. After taking out what you need for school you would have $536 left for the month for rent, school supplies, bills and food. Now this may seem somewhat posible for someone that lives with their parents, but the only way a person could even survive on that is if they live in crowded conditions like a 2 bedroom apartment with 3 people for 4-800 dollars a month.
